Using ReturnHaven
Reporting and discovering cases
What should I include in a lost-item report?
Share details that help discovery, such as the general area, approximate time, item category, and a useful description. Keep at least one identifying detail private so it can support an ownership check later.
What should I do when I find an item?
Create a found-item report without publishing sensitive details. Keep the item secure, respond carefully to claims, and choose an accountable public location for any handover.
Can ReturnHaven guarantee a recovery?
No. ReturnHaven supports discovery and coordination, but cannot guarantee that an item will be found, returned, or successfully claimed.
Claims and recovery
Proving ownership and arranging return
How should I prove that an item is mine?
Use private, item-specific evidence such as a detail not shown publicly, a matching receipt, a serial number, or another credible record. Do not publish sensitive evidence in the public case description.
What if more than one person claims the same item?
Pause the handover. Compare the available private evidence carefully and use reporting or review channels when the claim remains disputed or unclear.
Where should a handover happen?
Prefer a public, well-lit, accountable location such as a staffed institution or security desk. Avoid isolated locations and do not proceed if the situation feels unsafe.
Privacy and safety
Protecting people while recovery happens
What information should stay out of a public post?
Avoid home addresses, private contact details, complete identity-document information, access codes, precise live locations, and the secret details you plan to use for ownership verification.
How do I report abuse or suspicious activity?
Use the reporting options available in the product where possible, or contact ReturnHaven with the case reference and a concise description. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information in email.
Should ReturnHaven be used for an emergency?
No. Contact the relevant emergency service or authority first when someone may be in immediate danger. ReturnHaven is not an emergency-response service.
